Early Childhood Program
Our Early Childhood Program consists of Toddler ages 1-2, Early Childhood ages 2-3, and Pre-K ages 3-4. In our Early Childhood Program, we have a daily schedule of planned activities, both play-based and teacher-led. We engage in hands-on learning through active exploration where we have activities based on children's interests. Our indoor and outdoor play space is designed to develop students' sensory-motor skills. Our Early Childhood Program educational pathways for toddlers to school-aged students are built on our school readiness pathway. This sequence of milestones and steps provides educational options and choices for our students' development and style of learning, which ensures success in elementary school and beyond. In the Early Childhood Program, we encourage learning by first-hand experience, i.e., doing, touching, and seeing for themselves through play. Our Early Childhood Program focuses on the Early Years Foundation Stage, which forms the basis for education from Toddler to Pre-Kindergarten. The Early Years Foundation Stage focuses on certain important areas of learning: Academic Development, Communication and Language, Personal, Social, and Emotional Development, and Physical Development.
Academic Development is learning in and out of the classroom through play, repetition, participation, and show-and-tell. The major focus of each classroom is based upon sequential learning guided by our comprehensive core curriculum. Our child-oriented classrooms are planned environments that contain carefully chosen educational and play materials. They also build fundamental skills such as counting, sorting, and shape recognition.
Communication and Language encompass listening, attention, and understanding, as well as speaking. Children build vocabulary, letter recognition, reading readiness, and handwriting skills. Language development is vital as it forms part of the basis for all learning and influences success. In our Early Childhood Program, emphasis is placed on playing with the children, getting to know them, and helping them develop their language skills.
Personal, social, and emotional development involves self-regulation, setting goals, and building relationships. There is a focus on developing self-confidence and self-awareness, managing feelings and behavior, as well as making relationships. This is another crucial area of learning and influences how the child feels about themselves and how they learn.
Physical Development covers gross motor and fine motor development. Gross motor skills are developed sometimes inside but mostly outside, where children are encouraged to play with large equipment to exercise their muscles.
